By October 5, 2002, reassembly of the engine and tender were nearly complete. Except for the addition of the bell and a few items that had either deteriorated over the years or were still in the possession of private individuals, the job was complete. Locomotive No. 1 awaits the completion of its new home in downtown El Paso near Union Plaza.
