During the cleaning, historical records were uncovered. For example, cold-stamped onto the wheels were a series of numbers. These were the dates the wheels were worked on, much like a tire rotation on your car: 7.84 = July, 1884; 6.85 = June, 1885; 12.87 = December, 1887. The Milwaukee Railroad sold the engine in 1889, and the new owners apparently did not continue the practice.
