During the summer of 2007, students from UTEP's School of Nursing traveled to the state of Chihuahua, Mexico to be part of a team that performed reconstructive surgery for the Tarahumaras. The Tarahumaras are a group of indigenous people who live in remote areas in the Sierra Tarahumara mountains. The School of Nursing sent its students to do clinical outreach and to put into practice what they have learned. The students provided respiratory, wound and incision care to their patients.
